Sunday, December 9th, 2007, LAST REPORT FOR THE 2007 YEAR!!!  It is that time of the year and tomorrow I haul and put the boat to bed for the winter so it will be ready next spring for another great year of fishing.  The speckeled trout are still thick here in SENCLand and are very good size.  Masonboro jetty is just full of them.  Flounders are moving on but the Mullet bite has been exceptional, along with a lot of nice red fish in the bays and creeks of the Cape Fear River.  Overall, a good fall fishing season, but now getting ready to head south for the winter.  I will not fill up these pages with the pictures of the southern adventure as it does not relate to Back Bay Fishing Charters, but if anyone wants to be included in the Lostboy Charters Adventures, just email and I will tag your name and email for photos during the winter months.  I just hope that all my friends have a safe and successful Holidays and New Year and that everyone enjoys their time in peace and good health.  Till sometime next spring, catchemup!!!  Later, the “Lostboy“

Late November, 2007.........Well  boys, the fishing continues to be good when you can get to them.  The wind has been a major player, but the fish are definantly here.  As one friend states, “There are so many specks (trout) that a blind sloth could catch them this year.“  He is right, they are all over the place!  And big ones at that!  Drum are here in numbers and size, and the flounder are slowing just a little.  Bait has been a problem some days to catch, but when you have them, they work well.  Tunnys and Bluefish are prolific, and on the days we get offshore, they are rabid feeders and fun on light tackle.  It is the Holidays, so some days are not as busy as others, but we are glad to have the trips we have.  Everyone trying to lose weight after the big feed of Thanksgiving I guess.  So, as the season slows to a crawl, it is time to get ready for the upcoming winter season down south and get all our gear here in NC ready for next year.... and there is always a lot to do.  So to all our new friends and all our old friends, Happy Holidays, and be safe.  More later as it comes.

November 11th, 2007...... Happy Veterans Day....and the fishing has been good.  Off to Johnny's Island for a few days of surf fishing with the Cape Fear Anglers Fishing Team and then to Hatteras for the 50th Annual Cape Hatteras Anglers Club fishing tourney which we did not do very well in.  Just the luck of the draw.  Oh well, there is always next year which will be fun also.  But Johnny's Island made up for it.... lots and lots of slot Puppy Drum and lots and lots of fun.  We kept our limit for freezing and just had way to many seashells in our pockets at the end of the two days....None of them were over 40 inches,  but just nice fish and some great sport to boot...  Next year we will stay longer at Johnny's Island and tear them up again.  Home safely and getting ready for another week on the water here in CB and just loving every minute of it.  Later, Lostboy

November 4th, 2007....“T“ man and his dad fished with me today and we tore up the Grey Trouts and just had a ball fishing and fellowshipping..... lots of fun with two nice fellows.  Cleaned the fish and had a nice lunch and got the boys back on the road to Virginia in time and just hope that the trip was safe and quick.  Much to do in the next few days so off the water for a few days of surf fishing up on the Northern Outer Banks.  More later.

November 2nd, 2007.......Well Boys, today Noel made his appearance and it looks like he may mess up the weekend..... and so it blows, that is goes.... and hopefully he will leave very soon.  Stay tuned for more as it unfolds.  Huddle up everyone, it's a late season Hurricane!!!!!!  There were whitecaps in the CB Town Boat Basin today.

October 28th, 2007....... Blowing like STINK describes this day to a “T“ but Falon and her friend Danny fished hard and we got some nice grey trout and spots in the river, but it sure blew like heck, did I mention that?  Frank was fun to have on the boat also and what a guy at the age of 84.... he was tough.  The Surf fishing tourney was on and they said a cinder block for a sinker barely held in the surf, but it still went on with a grand day and over 250 contestants made it a smash success.... next year will be better.  Tomorrow they are calling for 30 knots and high seas so I'm out of here for a day or two.  Call for reservations as the seas hopefully will subside and improve for the weekend.  Let us wait and see......

October 23rd, 2007...... Off the water for a day of repairs and mechanican on the boat.... Waayyy too much to do.  But back on the water tomorrow.   The FISH are here, where are YOU!!!!!  Come on down and enjoy some beautiful SENCland fall weather with us and our fish.  There are still some days available for charter, so give us a call soon to book your trip.  Travel safely and see you all soon.  Pictured above are Jamie and the boys with their nice catch of flounder and grey trout and also a nice photo of “T“ man and one of his nice spanish caught lightlining off a reef.  The “T“ man will be back on the docks this coming summer, probably as a mate, so if you see him, ask how the fishing is, he will know.

Middle October.......BIG FLOUNDER,  SPANISH MACKERALS, GREY TROUT AND SPECKLED TROUT ARE HERE AND SO ARE THE MONSTER RED DRUM!  Everything is on fire here on the SENCland coast.  Need I say more?   If you do not put a hook in the water, you can't catch a fish.  NOTE JOE'S BIG FLOUNDER......See you soon.
October 13, 2007.....Well, the big drum have arrived off shore and the flounder are increasing in number and size, and the bottom fishing nearshore is hot with the arrival of the Grey Trout and Spanish Mackerals.... of course the Grunts and Croakers and other bottom dwellers are here too, so the activity is fast and furious.  There have been days when we had to pull off the reefs after limiting out on the fine trout, and look for other fish to play with.  Now that is a great problem to have.  No problem here as long as the weather cooperates, and when it does not, we run to the river for the nice Speckled Trout we have found there, and some in nice numbers.  Fall fishing is in full swing..... Come on down and let's go fishing!!!!
  Johnny's Big Drum.... Nice Catch!

Early October 2007.......Ok, I had the chance to sneak out of town for a day and go see my old “Coon Fishing“ buddy Johnny up at Middle Island and brother, did we have fun with Dr. Z and all his gang..... but no “Coon Fishing” this time!  Black and Red drum were there along with the strangest white gooey seaweed you ever saw, but we did manage to catch a lot of nice fish even in all the mess, and then we found out our old friend Branson was on the “Forbidden Island“ at High Hills, so off we went in a borrowed truck to catch up on lost time.  Even got up to the North end and saw Carney, David, Terry, Phillip, and Capt. Jamie Morgan once again....Just a great trip even with the seas and seaweed, but so good to see our old friends once again.  Oh, and the “troll under the bridge” did not get to see me or get some money either!!!  Oscar, all your handtied rigs held up well and caught some nice fish... thought you would like to know that...Now back for some serious SENCland fishing this weekend.... the “Pineapple Gang” arrives this weekend, so watch out for all the fish stories soon!  More on that later.  A Picture is worth a thousand words, so enjoy.

Late September-October 1st, 2007......Well, it is blowing like heck right now, but prior to the big Noreaster the sharks, Spanish, Flounder, and nice slot and over slot size Redfish were abundant.  Just a slight glitch in the weather to slow us down right now for a few days.  And a flood tide situation also with the moon does not help.  It will improve in a few days, and then the fishing will be in high gear.  We have had some nice trips the past few days, but we had to work hard for our fish.  Seas are high but will subside shortly and the river will clean up so we can get back to those nice trout..... more on that later.  Remember, it is high season so call to plan early.  More later, Capt. Charlie

September 22nd-23rd, 2007.........Well, Lucas and his dad showed up and wanted to catch sharks.  And boy, did Lucas get a workout!!!  We went three for five and one of the battles lasted well over an hour.... Lucas was bone dead tired but smiling like a mad hatter at the end of the trip.... he has many many tales to tell when he gets back to school and best yet, his dad took lots of photos!  Then I took Gooey and Jerry out for the afternoon and we caught some beautiful spanish mackerals and trout and other species just to have fun and a great day on the water.  Then Sunday morning Freda and Cecil showed up and we caught some various bottom fish and then a beautiful slot Red fish.... this morning was somewhat slower than yesterday, but it was another day.  Upon returning to the dock Cecil asked if I had an afternoon trip and I told him I did not, but I was going to try and get one.  He and Freda went for a burger and upon returning, asked if I had a trip, and I said “no“, and Cecil then said, “Let's go again!“ so off we went for an afternoon outing!  Freda and Cecil had just way too much fun as we caught a lot of bottom fish and 6 beautiful Flounders up to 4 pounds... not a bad afternoon.  And Cecil even caught a little “NAP“.  I was told the granddaughters would love that picture of grandpa sleeping on the boat!  Then the next day the winds and seas came up.... I am off the water for a day or two.  Water temps are falling and the bait is thick and the fish are getting more active by the day.  Come on down and let's see what we can get into.  More later.......

September 19th, 2007......OK Herbert, here is your report!!!!  The past few days we have had a severe Northeaster blowing and even the Cape Fear River is very disturbed and running hard.  Nearshore and Offshore is just about impossible unless you have a large bluewater boat, and even then it is not a fun ride.  Most of the larger boats here in CB are sitting at the dock waiting for the weather to clear later this week.  We have run some river trips and they have had small fish galore, but the trout and flounder and drum are somewhat slower.  Yesterday the 18th was very slow, but we were fighting winds up to 25 knots straight down the river.  Oh well, can't fight mother nature.....

BUT the bright spot is that the water temps are falling, and hopefully we will get some much needed rain in the next few days.  Many oldtimers feel that this summer's drought has had a huge effect on our fishing, and not for the better.  The Crabbers and Shrimpers have not had a glory season, and they watch what the water conditions are daily also as it affects their fishing and livelihoods also.  The consensus is that the drought has had a major impact on our inshore fisheries.  Offshore the season has been fairly good overall.  But things will be heating up with the arrival last week of a large amount of bait in our waters and the fishing season will be in full swing shortly.  There are fish here, but they are not “Frisky“ as one of my friends describes the action and he fishes a lot up in the Topsail and Sneeds Ferry area.

So Herbert, come on down with Frank and let's go fishing soon.  The season will improve very quickly.  See all of you on the water.  Later, the Lostboy

Early September, 2007......Gabrielle has passed and was a non-event, and the water is cooling and the fish are turning on!!!!  Big Red Drum, nice Speckeled Trout, large river Croakers and Spots, and nice Flounder when you can get to them.  The Fall fishing season has kicked off in high gear down here at Carolina Beach and even some Nice Spanish Mackerals are still around to troll for while we are motoring to our favorite ledges for Grey Trout.  We were lucky with the tropical storm and hope the rest of the season is as quiet as this past weekend, so do not let Jim Catchatory and the “Non-Weather Channel” influence you..... they really are trying to create the weather rather than report it....... they have lost a lot of creditability here in SENCland (sort of like some of the guides who are “Captain Coolerfulls“ and always report the “River is on Fire“ and we are “Tearing them up!“ when there are no fish being caught.  This is just bad business.)  Anyway, I have preached and am proud to report the fishing is improving and getting much better.  Come on down and I'll show you some fish and a good day on the water to boot!  Call now for a fishing report or to reserve your day.  Tight lines and strong knots..... Capt. Charlie

August 25-26......OK Guys, the fish are here and it is getting better every day.  Flounder, Sharks, Big Red Drum (over the slot size, have to throw them back) fish, and still the occasional nice Speckeled Trout.  What a great start to the fall season!!!  And of course, let us not forget the nice mullets and Big Croakers in the river!  Just a nice mixed bag of fish for everyone to enjoy.  Now that Labor Day is approaching and the families are heading back to school, our serious fall fishing season is kicking off nicely.  Weekends are filling up fast, but the weekdays are available with no chance of even a local crowd showing up..... let's go fishing soon!  Tight lines to one and all.....

August 20th,  2007.... Well, all is done and I am proud to announce the ownership of Slip 6 at the Carolina Beach Town Municipal Docks.  Back Bay Fishing Charters has a permanent home on the beautiful SENCland coast now and it is a fine dock with a floating pier for the safety and ease for my clients and friends.  And the fishing has been good also.  Flounder, Big Bluefish, Sharks, and all sorts of bottom fish have been showing up in some sizes and numbers and we are having fun.  Come on down and get serious about catching the big one with me.... loads of fun to boot!!!!  Here are some more pictures of what has been happening lately and just check out the smiles.  See you soon on the water and hope for tight lines and strong knots!

July 19th-August 8th, 2007....... OK, I promise to do better with the reports in the future, but to be honest I am going to change my format some.... so I can keep up with it better.  We have been very busy this season, but there has been a lack of consistancy in the fishing up to now.  We have had one of the worst Spanish Mackeral summer seasons ever, and I am not the only one complaining.  FINALLY the FLOUNDER have showed up in numbers and quality and we have bait everywhere.... but late this year, but here right now.  I have been as busy as a mad beaver and the folks who have fished with me have been great people and we have worked hard for what we caught.  We have good signs for a great fall and end of summer if all goes well.  Now you can see some of the photos of the folks and their fish we have caught this week and last.  Many thanks to all my friends who check the site and have given me such great ideas and input on how to improve the report and site.  Everyone fish hard and watch out for the extreme heat wave coming.

July 14, 2007......My old friends Joe and Pam and their family Frank and Dalton and Jason were here today and FINALLY we had a great flounder day..... seven nice keepers and a few throwbacks and a few lost fish, and we did not get rained on!!! But it was close.... and we stayed safe.  The "Flounder Pounder" group had a ball and Dalton was grinning so hard I thought his face would crack... nice young man and a great fisherman to boot!  I am still having touble finding the new cardboard "emergency flashers" for my truck that Joe told me about, but when I do, I will take a photo of them and post it here on the web for all my friends.... more on that later.  Best to all and keep fishing.  Later

Friday, July 13th, 2007.......  Well, it is Friday the 13th and first of all a great big apology for not being current in my previous fishing reports for a while as there is a lot going on right now, and it is ALL GOOD!!!!  My announcement shortly will be appropriate, but I have been burning the candle at all four ends for a while and it will settle down soon!!!  SOOOOOO, just bear with me for a while longer.  I have been fishing like a fool and having a ball with a lot of old friends and making some new ones too, and the major project has consumed all my free time, but pictures will be forthcoming.  So I promise to be better in the future.  As for now, here are some pics of my friends and some of our trips, not all by any means, and I hope if you are not pictured you will not be offended.  If I left some one out, please send me a photo and I will post it for you on my site.  Just way too much happening right now, but it is all GOOOOOODDDDD!!!!!!  More on that later.  Best to all and keep fishing hard.  Later.
PS. See pictures posted on the gallery page.

June 29th, 2007 AM Trip.....Doug, Dale, and their two boys Josh and Zack were my guests today and after trying for spanish mackerels, we caught a nice shark behind one of the shrimp boats and then found the Croaker mother lode at the reef.... and we had fun catching nice fish till it was time to head back to the hill....and we also caught a nice l6“ flounder... nice to see them showing up in the ocean waters.

June 28th, 2007 PM trip......Tim and his son Matt were my guests today and the wind came up so we ran to a creek and drowned some bait and caught Croakers, Spots, Sharks and various bottom dwellers.... and after the tide got right, we tried casting for some of the reds that kept waking the banks, but to no avail.  Just one of those great days where all was great and the fishing was super.  Also had an Alligator pass by us once or twice.  It was fun and Matt had a great time running the boat as well, and proved to be a great captain also!  Nice folks with a super day on the water.  What more could you ask for?

JUNE 28, 2007  AM TRIP.....Brian, Gary, and old Lucky Howard were my guests today and off we went to throw lures for Spanish Macks, and we did, but we did not do well, but one really dumb King Mack (about 30 inches long) decided to make Howard's day and took off with his jig and gave him the fight of the day.... boy, did we give him a hard time about this very stupid fish!!!  You just had to be there to hear all the comments that took place after this fight!  Then off to the wrecks for some flounder and bottom fishing which was a lot of fun.  More later....
June 23rd, 2007....  Eric and his son Charlie and I were off today in hot pursuit of the Spanish Mackerals, and we caught several but overall a slow day for the "South of the Border" fish... and then we went sharking and Charlie caught this one nice one.... but that was it.  Very slow day.  So we ran to the ICW to fish for Flounder where Charlie cast out and before it hit the bottom, he had a berautiful flounder, and that was the end of the flounder fishing!  We tried other spots but to no avail.... it was just slow.  Saw some of our friends out fun fishing and they reported a slow day also... GO FIGURE!!!!!   It's fishing at its best.... but we all still had a ball.  We will do it again soon.  Great shot of Charlie and Eric with Charlie's Shark.... Later

June 22, 2007... Today Ray and Andrea, Mike and Charles were on the boat and off we went for the Spanish which were a little slower than yesterday, but still fun, and then off to do battle with the sharks for Charles and Mike in particular.  And they were there.  Rods bending and reels screaming, we blew apart another reel today (that's two reels destroyed this week!)  And we tried to tear up more reels.  Everyone caught big sharks, had water thrown in their faces by the animals, and then we quit from being tired. A great day with a great group.  Charles, don't forget to say hello to my buddies at the tavern up in Emanclaw, WA.  More later.
June 21, 2007..... Jeff and Daniel were here today and they as regulars were ready to go after the biggun's.... and Daniel had a ball, and so did Dad!!!  Off to a beautiful start catching some nice big Spanish Mackerels and we ended up with a dozen or so before Daniel asked if we could go sharking... so guess what?  Off we went to a ledge and proceeded to tear up the sharks in the 18 to 26 pound class.  If you have never caught them on 7 foot spinning gear with light line and tackle, you have missed something.... just plain fun.
We landed nearly 7 or 8 of the nice fighting fish till the wind picked up quickly and we ran for the inlet and waterways and river to try and catch Dad a nice flounder once again.  We saw some sights such as a Coyote in the wild, and bird life to beat the band, but no flounder or drum yet.  Still, after all the earlier action, the day was a hit and we all departed tired and ready for lunch.  If you check out the photos of the shark Daniel is holding you will notice he was bitten by another shark on the way up to the boat.... the mouth imprint was about 12 to 14 inches wide... now that would have been a major shark to have caught.  Loads of fun and we will do it again soon.

June19th, PM 2007....Bob and the family were ready this afternoon, but the wind came up and the seas got rough, so we had to stay inside the ICW and try for some drum, and they did not cooperate.  We still had fun with some smaller species, but not a strong afternoon.  It happens to the best of us, doesn't it?  More to come next time.
June 19th, AM  2007...... Craig, Big Randy, and Little (?) Randy were ready for a trip today and we caught some beautiful Spanish to start off with ( I think the count was 18) and then Little Randy wanted to catch a shark, so off to the near shore ledges and we had a slow start,  but they finished strong and fast.  We caught and landed at least 12 nice fish up to 25 lbs. and 4 foot long, and on our light gear, I told Little Randy that we were “bear hunting with switches“.. and that was about right!  All these fine fish were released to fight again another day and we had a ball pulling hard and grinning all the time.  I am sure these boys will have tales to tell the rest of the family.  Everyone had their share and when we returned to the landing, they were tired and ready for lunch.  Just a great day of fun fishing.

June 18th, 2007..... Today Tim and his son John were the anglers and all they wanted to do was catch and release some nice fish.... so off we went in search of Spanish Mackerels and we caught a few, then off to a nice ledge where we proceeded to just TEAR UP THE SHARKS!!!!  And not just one or two, but a final count was in the teens!  And we released them all with sore mouths and gums to fight again really soon! Just a great deal of fun on our light tackle, sort of like Bear Hunting with a Switch!  Tim and John both were bent over double more than once and the sweat was starting to pop out on both of their brows....  tons fo fun with sharks up to 20 pounds a piece!   John even had one shark that destroyed one of my Shimano Reels, just tore the guts out of it.  Oh well, that is the cost of doing business in Shark Alley!!  Lots of Gatorade was consumed on the ride in and the sea conditions were perfect, just look at the photos.  More later......

June 16th, 2007......Brent and his daughter Courtney and her friend Becca AKA the “Croaker Queen“ were my guests today and guess what, do you see some more Sweatshirts?  Still rather cool for mid June, but a beautiful day to be on the water.  Tried nearshore for the spanish, did not find them, so we went to the Cape Fear River, caught some minnows, and went to Buzzard Bay where we caught this nice 2.5 lb. flounder.  Brent is now known as the Flounder Pounder!!!  There was a Flounder Tournament going on today, so we figure we would have been in the money if we had entered, but who cares!!, just look at the smiles and grins.  We had way too much fun just fun fishing and picking on each other and the girls fished tough.... and well.  Courtney is now a professional rod caster and very accurate to boot.  Of course Becca caught all the big croakers and is now the Croaker Queen, but if the shoe fits, you gotta wear it.  Lots of fun and some nice fish for dinner made the day.  Already looking forward to having Brent, Courtney and Becca back with me later this summer.  Everyone fish hard and let's hope this weather warms up a little more, I am scared there will be icebergs floating down the Cape Fear soon at this rate!

June 15th, 2007.....Mike and Tanner (age 9) and Dave and Mike were my guests today and off we ran in search of the elusive Spanish Mackerals, but to no avail... they just did not cooperate here in our area.  So into the river we ran and caught numerous Blues, Croakers, and Spots.  Here is a photo of Tanner with his bucket of fish.  Not a bad catch for a nice young man.  And he fished hard.  Dad and the other boys fished hard also, but I think Tanner “Mac“ was the Man!  We even scored a Speckled Trout and a few small sharks just for fun.  Also Tanner “Mac“ caught  the smallest fish to ever bite a hook on my boat.... it was about an inch long if that... how he hooked himself none of us will ever know.  We all had a great laugh over that one.  Hopefully this will become a yearly event and it was just a great day to be on the water.  And the weather warmed up also.  Cool start but great ending.  More later......

June 14th, 2007..... Is it true they are worrying about Global Warming?  Today, just look at the picture.... We dang near froze to death out on the water.  Just look at the sweatshirts the boys have on!!!!  Brenda and her sons (from left to right) Paul “Sharkman“, Taylen “Capt. Crazy“, Mike “Sub-Dude“, and John “Crazy“ and we had fun with the small sharks and croakers in the river.  Blowing 25 today and too rough for the ocean, but these boys and mom wanted to fish and we did the best we could under very adverse conditions.  My lips were blue at the end of the trip from exposure, but the kids were smiling.  Did I mention how cold it was?  Yeah, not a day for the faint of heart.  And “Capt. Crazy“ got us all wet with his great boat driving skills!  Great day with a great family.  More later....

June 10th, 2007.... Darius, John, and Airy (aged a cool 9 years) joined me today and we hit the ocean in search of Spanish, but we did not find them as we were starting late in the day..... but we did find the sharks!  Lots of pulling and tugging for a while till the seas came up so in we ran.  Thunderheads were building so we cut our day somewhat short but Airy had a bag of fish to carry home for supper..... way too much fun for the young man and I hope he will fish with me again.  Cool Kid.  Darius and John had fun also visiting with Betty and we got out of there before the weather set in.  Just one of those lazy SENCland humid afternoons..... More later....

June 9th, 2007.......Mick and Denise and their kids (adult children) Danielle and Tyler were my guest today and we had a blast up the river fishing for flounder, but no luck.  I just hope they show up soon.  We did catch a lot of smaller species and enjoyed the day in some absolutely beautiful surroundings, and everyone enjoyed themselves, but the fish were just not helping us out.  Wow, sometimes you're the windshield and sometimes you're the bug.... go figure.  Still, we ended the day with a nice bag of fish for the pan that evening and hopefully on Tyler's next trip from the west coast we can do it again.  Danielle will be busy with her senior year of college so maybe Mom and Dad can get back for a repeat trip soon.  Keep fishing hard and we will let you know what is happening.

June 6th, 2007.... Got the chance to run off with Capt. Robert and some of our Bahamian friends who were here and wanted to go Tuna fishing at Oregon Inlet.  Absolutely Unbelievable!!!!  We limited out on tunas up to 50 lbs. and also caught some nice gaffer Dolphin up to 30 lbs..... just a great day with some great friends and what more can you ask for.  In the water tomorrow and now that the season is heating up, more reports to follow and more fish to catch than ever.  Best to all and see you soon.  Now I have to go back to work..... later.

   June 2nd, 2007....
Today Luhrs and Misty were my guests and what a day!  We started off by trolling for some very nice Spanish Mackerals which cooperated, but not in the numbers we had hoped for.... but still we got some very nice fish.  Then off to a ledge to fish for some sharks just for fun and what a ball Luhrs and Misty had.  We hooked about 9 sharks and landed 6 of them and they just beat us up on our light tackle gear.... What a hoot watching the sharks run all about the boat, under it, and then throw water all over us at the side.  We just caught and released these great fighters so we could catch them again later!!!  Then we ran to the inside in search of some Minnows and other species of fish, and Guess What?  We caught some nice trout, a throwback red fish, and then Misty caught a nice 4.9 lb. Flounder!  Just one tenth of a pound short of a state citation, but she did not care.... she had caught a nice fish.  That ended our half day experience and what a day it was... an inshore slam with spanish and sharks to boot! Oh yes, about forgot the Alligator that went crusing by us while we were up the creek!!!  Now that was cool too!   I'll have to work hard to beat this trip, that is for sure.  I have photos from Luhrs to post so enjoy them and the smiles....  later.......

May 28th, 2007.... Ed and Warren were my guests today and off we went for the Spanish Macks!  And 36 fish later we quit.  We were tired of catching nice spanish, so big we never had to measure the first one!  That is a great problem to have!  So, to finish out the day, we went sharking and had a ball.  Hooked 8, landed 6, and released them all to fight again another day. On light tackle, the smiles just about broke the boy's faces..... Way too much fun.  Then back to the hill where we cleaned the fish and got them ready for their drive back to Atlanta.
We will do it upon their return to SENCLand later this summer.... travel safely and see ya soon!

May 27th, 2007 PM Trip.... Darby and Robbie were here and just wanted to catch some fish and have a quality water day.  We ended up in the flats of Radar Bay where we found some nice black drum and some larger than normal Croakers (just can't seem to get away from these nice fish) and enjoyed the scenery to boot!!!  For a while the fishing was fast and furious and just plain fun with non stop action.  Darby even became a very good caster while here on vacation.  Now she can cast with the best of them.
 I will see these
guys again soon, you can count on that.

May 27, 2007...Joe and Pam Morrow from Carolina Beach had their friends Chick and Patt (with two T's) down for the weekend and we ran off and caught some nice Spanish early in the day and then headed for the river in search of the elusive Flounder.  We did not find the keeper flounder, but we did catch a nice Citation Speckled Trout of over 4 Pounds!!  Nice fish Pam!  We all had fun, and I am sure the spanish and the trout were a hit for dinner.
Looking forward to fishing with these guys again in early July... nice people and good fishermen.

May 24th, 2007.... Had Mike and his son Adam out today, and we caught Spanish Mackerals for about an hour till the wind came up and drove us back inside.  Just one of those things.  The water is getting clearer and heating up and looks like good time to come soon.
Keep posted and I will let you know what my friends and I are up to.  Later.

May 23rd, 2007.... Rich and Michelle wanted a slow day to relax and sightsee, so up Alligator Creek to watch the birds and shorelife.  Thought we would see an alligator, but no such luck.  Cool nights and brisk winds kept them in the cover where they would not feel the coolness of the air.  We did catch a lot of smaller fish and enjoy the sights, but the big one was just not happening.  Oh well, that is fishing.  Now it is time for Michelle to get back to classes for another year, and hopefully her last and all will go well for her.
See you next year Dr. Michelle.

May 21st, 2007.... Rich and Michelle were in town for a much needed break and today we fished and just had fun.  Nothing outstanding, but just drowning bait and catching Croakers.... Catch and Release at it's finest.
They will fish again the 23rd and we will try up the creeks and see what happens.

May l9th, 2007..... Well, some old friends from High Point were in town today and Patty and Teresa brought their friends and their son Casey with them!  Casey wanted to catch a shark and with the heat on me, we ran down the river to the mouth of the Cape Fear River where he caught his first shark ever, and it was a nice one on light tackle to boot!  Just look at the smile.  We all had fun catching croakers and spots, but Casey was the hit of the day.  You da man, Casey!  See ya soon.
